If you decide you want the full experience I would suggest playing original Myst, realMyst and then Riven. Channelwood might be my favorite age in all the games and it still looks great, even in the original 256 color slide show mode. Original Myst like Riven through Myst IV uses the slideshow style format, which although it does not allow for smooth transitions I think does more to excite the imagination as you fill in the gaps.
